I was a bit hesitant when I bought this pack, but I should have known that everything was going to meet my expectations simply because it's a Marmot. I returned a Gregory Baltoro 75, which is another great pack, but it was to big for what I needed it for. Also, I didn't want to spend $300 on a pack and then take it out in the field to get bumps and bruises. I just don't have the kind of money to be replacing stuff all the time. Anyways, I got a "LARGE" size Marmot Odin 50plus pack and it seems very durable with stitching/material/zippers and I believe it would hold up in the elements pretty darn well! In my pack I currently have a homemade compact fishing kit, MSR micro stove, GSI Outdoor bottle cup with 32 ounce water bottle, Purcell Trench Backpack Grill( 17in x 5.5in), 2 undies, 2 socks, 2 t-shirts, Dakota Grizzly pants, 1stove fuel canister, big military poncho, gloves, Boonie cap, couple of smaller items (lighters/hand sanitizer/headlamp/batteries ext), compact pillow, Gerber tool and I still have plenty of room to spare for a few more clothes just to give you an idea of the space inside. Like I said, this is a great pack. It also feels good around the waist and on the back. I don't think I would have a problem doing 12miles under 3hrs with this pack! (Army Ranger Standard!) Heck, Marmot even put a built in whistle into the front chest strap clip and they give you an extra strap/clip. Kinda neat! Anyways, storage below:

Inside small pocket storage stitched at top of bag that would hold a few smaller items like keys, watch, wallet and so forth.
Bottom compartment for sleeping bag. Mine is currently holding an all weather bivy sleeping bag cover and a good size poncho liner blanket and still has a little room left. That's pretty much all I need for hot Georgia weather.
Storage on both sides of bag at bottom for water bottles or whatever you would like to stuff in them. The material is not mesh but is more like a stronger pantyhose liner kinda material. I prefer stretchy mesh, but this will work.
