Simmons 7MP ProHunter Cam with Night Vision Review
I bought two of this exact model from another archery supply source at the same time I purchased a Moultrie M-880. I have compared the two in actual use conditions, side by side. My findings are that the Moultrie M-880 does a significantly better job of actually detecting motion which results in a picture being taken. In fact, in my real world testing in the identical location, the Moultrie will consistently detect and deliver about 4 times as many pictures as this Simmons.
Ok, so that's the lacking for this camera, and if I didn't have both and had taken the time to compare them in identical conditions with the same activity at the same time, I probably would never have know the difference.
On the plus note for this camera, it was about 2/3 the cost of the Moultrie, has a two year warranty instead of one, and in actual functionality, the pictures it takes are noticeably clearer than those from the Moultrie. The Moultrie is 8MP and this one is 7MP, but comparing identical photos from my side by side comparisons, the Simmons photos definitely are clearer.
I'm still very satisfied with my purchase of two of these though. The price was right (I paid 3/4 of a C note delivered for each vs 1 1/4 C note for the Moultrie) and my expectations were set accordingly. I'm a little disappointed in the actual motion detection, but pleasantly surprised by the quality of the photos that I do get. It may not capture "everything" that comes by and only get 1/4 the pictures that the Moultrie would take in the same situation, but those it does get will be very nice photos.
