Insight HX150 Flashlight Review
I love it! This flashlight will turn the darkest night into the brightest day. All functions are available from a push button switch in the end of the barrel. That button is well designed and easy to use, even for someone with big fingers. And the best part is that you won't have to save the instructions in order to switch between functions. Five minutes to learn them, and you're done.
Of the functions available, I would say that the most difficult to adjust to is the dimming function. Most of us are used to multiposition switches to change between high and low settings. This light has a variable dimmer that must be set by holding the button down until the light output is at the desired intensity. Not difficult, but it does take a little getting used to. The strobe function works well, though I'm not sure when I will ever need it unless I'm using it like a lighthouse to help guide someone back to a certain place. Of more use to me, I think, would be the SOS function. It is crisp and clear to anyone whoever heard of Morse Code.
The construction of this flashlight is top notch. The thing isn't going to fall apart on you that's for sure, and it has enough heft to make a formidable weapon if necessary. I know I wouldn't want to get hit by it. It is also made waterproof by use of a rubber o-ring to seal the battery compartment, though how long this will hold water out I can not say. This ring does require periodic lubrication to keep it from drying out and cracking.
The only thing that would concern me with this flashlight is how long the batteries will hold up. That is something of a variable, since usage will vary from one individual to another. And the only reason for the concern is that this light is not using AA/AAA batteries.
I also have a suggestion for anyone who is thinking about buying this wonderful product. Consider buying a flap holster for it at the same time. This is, after all, a very expensive flashlight. You wouldn't want to have it fall out of a pocket and get lost.
