Trol - A - Matic Trolling Plate Review

I read on the happy troller and found that forgeting to pull the plate was a common problem. Throttleing up without pulling it up would bend the plat and it would never be the same after. I ran across the Troll-O-Matic and thought I would give it a try. There was a report of loss of control of the boat at low speeds. I have a 20 Ft Maxum 5.0 Mercriuser V-8 and it imporved my trolling handling. I dont over correct near as much and it slowed the boat to a crawl. I can see my flashers spin with a nice slow turn rather then a flutter that I had before. This plate is totaly automatic and I forget it is even there until I put into the dock areas and find I have to throttle up a little bit since it is so slow. Its hard to believe but it imporved the slow speed handling. Up on plane it seems to be non existant. I highly reccomend this plate to anyone who wants to fish at a nice slow troll. I had to drill the cavitation plate but wasn't hard. I instlalled it in about 15 minutes total. I did have some lock bolts I put on with the lock washer instead of the regular nuts it came with.
