Look, these are supposed to be THE best - worn by many pros - if they are, then that's a sad commentary on the power of the pros and general public to demand high quality (don't even get me started on sticks). They are a good pad; don't get me wrong, but I shelled out the extra for these because of a shoulder injury, thinking that these would have truly protective shoulder caps. They don't. Although the shoulder caps are large, and pretty stiff, both (more so than others), they still flop and float and move way too much to actually be protective if your shoulder collides with the boards or another player - they need to have more/ thicker/ better "ligaments & tendons & stiff arms" if that makes sense, attaching and connecting the shoulder caps to the other parts of the pad, so that they will stay in place and act as a protective bubble that transfers the energy to the front and back parts of the pad and moves your whole upper body, rather than a flippy-floppy cap like this that simply instantly caves in from the front or back, and allows that shoulder joint to contact something. The rest of the pad is nice, and this pad may in fact be the best in shoulder protection or one of the best, out there, but if it is, that's only because there aren't any actually good ones (just like sticks) - only because the designers and makers are colossally lazy, uninspired, un-scientific, and non-responsive to demands of true protection, because they blow nards for true shoulder protection. Let's start demanding better quality in hockey gear folks, especially with sticks...gear is way way overpriced for the innovation and quality that you get. Start buying used until they make better products.
