ok, i spent 4 weeks pouring through all the different scopes, it's nuts. every manufacturer has their little twist on things and none of em have a complete package. it's "oh, i want this from this scope, and this from that scope...etc" if you are researching it you know what i mean. i purchased this for a remington 700 bdl detachable mag. the weapon can shoot to 1k yrds + and i wanted a scope that could do the same, even if i never ever shoot that far. and no i am not going to spend 2 grand on a leopold. if you think they are wonderful then good for you, i'll take the differnce and buy ammo and reloading supplies. that being said, i wanted a scope that is point and click as much as possible. out beyond 5 or 600 yrds there ain't one. at least not that i have seen. i have another rifle and i bought the bushnell DOA 600 for it, it is pretty much point and click once you run the ballistic numbers through to verify bullet drop. anyway back to bsa. the one i purchased is a mildot and according to my pea brain calculations i can zero it at 200 yards and with the caliber i'm shooting i can get to 800yrds without touching a knob. at 100yrds use one mildot high, at 200 zero, then just use the ballistics and move down the mil dots, make a cheat sheet and it's almost point and click once you range it. so for that i'm pretty happy. the final numbers of course will be set at the range. check the numbers, but always check with real world against the numbers.

now the glass, that is a big deal for hunting. the scope i received is spotless, have looked through it at a 8 point buck in the back pasture at about 630 yrds according to my range finder, the scope is clear and no distortions. the knob for the parallax setting is only 50/100/150 no further so don't expect much there. the pull / push knob for windage works great, the knob for the elevation is VERY stiff to pull out, so i have concerns about holding the zero when i'm man handling the thing out to elevate. if it doesn't loosen up i think i'm gonna see how good bsa's customer service is and send it in to see if they can loosen it up.

the sunshade comes with it and is great, except it is grooved all the way to the front. i like butler creek flip up covers and so you can't really get a good seal, i soaked the cover in hot water and pushed it on, then used some black silicon to fill in the gaps on the front. the rear is also grooved and has the adjustment for focus, i put the cover on anyway, it's a pain. but the focus can still be adjusted.

ok the long and the short of it is this, long term how will it hold up? got me, but so far seems like it will do pretty good. time will tell. would i buy this scope again? probably the next set of magnifications down, in the upper ranges of magnification with this one it gets kinda squirrly trying to focus your eye because of the smaller sight picture.

overall pretty good value for the money. so should you get this scope? you decide, but i'm pretty happy with mine so far.
