to be honest i have yet to put this knife through its paces. until then, no 5 stars. i have done some batoning with it on some rock hard sun dried pallets (good wood is a little hard to find in the sandbox). came with a nice kydex sheath with some accessories. fit and finnish are excellent, shaving sharp out of the box. i bought this in conjunction with the Sharpshooter leather sheath and they make a good pair. i perfer leather over kydex, but that is a personal matter.

The steel is 1095 high carbon, edge retention is excellent, the coating on the blade will mar when you are batoning with it. some folks remove the finish to increase the ability to baton/reduce drag, however 1095 is not a stainless steel and is prone to rust if not cared for. taking care of it consists of wiping it down with a coat of protective oil/clp prior to puting it up. I have enjoyed this knife thus far and have since ordered the ESEE Izula for my wife and the Canduri for myself.
The warrenty is second to none, if you break it, they will replace it, no questions asked. They have had individuals shoot their knives, intentionally, and when they break sent it back to ESEE for replacement. ESEE stood by thier word and replaced the blade, free of cost. Replacement is for the life of the blade, not the individual. So if you gift it to someone, even used and it should fail...they will replace it.
I would highly recommend this knife.
