I recently bought a new bike and wanted to use the expensive leather saddle bags from my old bike. I searched for new quick-release mounting brackets for the new bike expecting that I'd have to drill more holes into the saddle bags. Then I came upon these. I thought I'd give them a try.

These were EXTREMELY easy to install and as they claim, I could use the existing holes in the saddle bag. The only issue I had was that the bolts that were provided that went through the saddle bag holes were too short. But a quick trip to the hardware store and a couple of bucks fixed that problem.

At first, I was a bit skeptical as to whether they were durable enough, but after a month of riding, they're holding up just fine. Make absolutely sure all the bolts are as tight as possible. (One bolt I'd not fully tightented came lose while riding, leaving my saddle bag dangling. Easy fix, however.) The ONLY thing I would recommend to the manufacturer is that they provide a single key for both locks.

I'm not sure if these would work for large, heavy saddle bags, but for my medium-sized, fairly light-weight bags, they work absolutely great. And best of all, when I get my next bike, these might potentially work for that bike with a couple of new bolts to mount to the fender/side rail.
